Food Pets Die For - the biggest issue with the current dog and cat diet.

Review your dog and cat diet before it's too late

Working towards Animal Naturopathy Certification, I came across trully shocking study on dog and cat diet. I want to share that one with you, to make you aware of the issues, or maybe just remind you about what to look for when buying food for your furry besties.

As a holistic approach, Animal Naturopathy uses nutrition, massage, homoeopathy, and energy therapies. Nutrition is the big one, so let's start with what we feed our dogs and cats.

Most of the time, when we shop for our dogs' and cats' food, we look at the colourful label, and we read, for example, "meat in sauce" or "chicken meal", etc.

Sounds familiar?

And then we check the ingredient listed on the packaging: “poultry by-products”.

What is that?

According to regulations, this term is defined as follows: “Unprocessed parts of poultry carcasses, such as heads, feet and entrails, free from faecal matter and extraneous materials, except any traces that could arise during manufacturing in accordance with good factory practices”.

Thanks to a study conducted by Ann Martin (USA, 1997*), we now know what can be used in store-bought packets of wet or dry pet food.

Get ready for it!

These products contain virtually everything that comes from abattoirs: remains of dead, sick or handicapped animals. They may also contain euthanised pets...

Further analysis found many highly toxic substances, such as hormones, pesticides, pathogens, heavy metals, and drugs.

Do you know what is in your pets' bowls?

To assure you, here at Goldie's kitchen, we only use "Human Grade Ingredients", which means the chicken, turkey, ox liver or lamb kidneys used for our bakes and treats could as well be used for human consumption - I call it hooman-friendly. In my philosophy, if it's good enough for me, it's good for your precious dogs and cats.
